Experimental Typography

Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design / Fall 2013 to Summer 2015

In this typography course, students created custom fonts based on research, observation and theory. Specifically, each student was given the name of a well known architect and challenged with designing letter-forms based on his or her public work. Each architect ranged in style, era and accomplishment. The project was a full semester long and consisted of a final presentation that contained each student’s findings and designs. Processes included sketching, model study, presentation and layout of deliverables. In addition, each student chose a letter from the set and created a 3D model of it.
